Terms & Conditions

1. Scope and provider

These Terms & Conditions apply to all orders placed through translationroad.com with Translation Road GmbH, Königsberger Str. 43, 22869 Schenefeld, Germany ("we," "us"). By placing an order, you ("you," the customer) accept these terms.

2. Services

We provide translation, certified/sworn translation, localization, and interpreting services as described on the relevant service and package pages. Certified translations are prepared and certified by a publicly appointed and sworn (öffentlich bestellt und allgemein beeidigt) or authorised (ermächtigt) translator from our vetted network — the certification is issued by that individual translator under German state law, not by Translation Road GmbH as a company.

3. Orders and contract formation

For the 16 fixed-price packages shown on this site, a contract is formed when you complete checkout and receive our order confirmation. For bespoke work requested via our quote form, a contract is formed only once we confirm the specific scope and price in writing and you accept it.

4. Prices and payment

All prices shown are net (excluding German VAT/USt, currently 19%), which is added at checkout. Our standard payment method is invoice/SEPA bank transfer: we issue an invoice by email after your order is confirmed, and begin translation once your documents and payment (or payment confirmation) are received. A demo card-payment method exists on this site for testing purposes only and does not process real payments.

5. Delivery of documents

You are responsible for sending us a clear, complete copy of the source document (scan or photo) after ordering; we do not require your physical original unless you separately arrange to send it. Digital delivery is by email/PDF; postal hard-copy delivery, where selected, is sent to the address you provide at checkout.

6. Turnaround times

Standard and express turnaround windows are as stated on each service/package page and begin from order confirmation (or from receipt of your documents, if later). Turnaround times are delivery commitments, not guarantees against events outside our reasonable control (see §9).

7. Revisions

Every order includes one free round of revisions for corrections that conform to the original order scope, requested within 14 days of delivery. Revisions requested outside this window, or that go beyond the original scope, may be quoted separately.

8. Certified-translation rejections

If a named authority rejects a certified translation due to a certification error on our part, we correct it at no charge. We are not responsible for rejections caused by the receiving authority's own requirements unrelated to translation accuracy or certification (e.g. a requirement for an apostille on the source document).

9. Liability

We are liable without limitation for damage resulting from injury to life, body, or health, and for damage caused by intent or gross negligence. For damage caused by slight negligence, we are liable only for breach of a material contractual obligation (cardinal obligation) and only up to the amount of foreseeable, contract-typical damage. Liability under the German Product Liability Act remains unaffected. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control (e.g. postal service disruption, and, for interpreting bookings, translator/interpreter illness where a suitable substitute cannot reasonably be arranged in time).

10. Right of withdrawal (consumers)

Consumers ordering as private individuals have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal. Full detail, including when this right lapses for translation services, is set out in our Cancellation & Refunds policy, which forms part of these Terms.

11. Confidentiality and data protection

Documents and information you provide are used solely to perform your order and are handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by German law, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). For contracts with merchants, legal entities under public law, or special funds under public law, the place of jurisdiction is Schenefeld, Germany (via the competent court for Kreis Pinneberg). Consumers may bring proceedings in the courts of their own place of residence as provided by law.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements; the version published on this page at the time of your order applies to that order.
