Cancellation & Refunds
1. Right of withdrawal for consumers (translation orders)
If you order as a consumer (i.e. not for a trade, business, or profession), you have the right to withdraw from a translation order within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period is 14 days from the day the contract is concluded (i.e. from order confirmation). To exercise your right of withdrawal, contact us at support@translationroad.com or +49 171 5523871 with a clear statement of your decision to withdraw. You may use the model text: "I hereby withdraw from my order [order reference], placed on [date]." Sending your withdrawal notice before the 14-day period expires is sufficient to meet the deadline.
Important — when this right ends early. Because translation work is typically requested under time pressure (e.g. a bureaucratic deadline), you may expressly request that we begin performance immediately, before the 14-day period ends, and acknowledge that doing so means your right of withdrawal ends once we have fully performed the contract (§356(4) BGB — German Civil Code). At checkout, you will be asked to confirm this separately if you want us to start work immediately.
Effect of withdrawal within the period, before full performance. If you withdraw before we have completed the translation, we will refund payments already made without delay, and no later than 14 days from the day we receive your withdrawal notice, using the same payment method you used for the original transaction, unless expressly agreed otherwise. If you expressly requested that we begin work immediately and later withdraw before full performance, we may deduct a reasonable amount corresponding to the work already completed.
Once fully performed. Once we have delivered a completed order for which you expressly requested immediate start, the right of withdrawal has ended and no refund is available for that completed work, in accordance with §356(4) BGB. This does not affect your right to a free revision (below) or any statutory warranty rights.
2. Free revision (all orders)
Every order — whether or not the right of withdrawal applies — includes one free round of revisions for corrections that conform to the original scope of your order, requested within 14 days of delivery.
3. Certified-translation rejections
If a named authority rejects a certified translation because of a certification error on our part, we correct it at no charge. This is separate from, and in addition to, the statutory withdrawal right above.
4. Interpreting bookings — cancellation terms
Interpreting bookings (remote and on-site) follow these cancellation terms instead of the translation-order withdrawal mechanism above, reflecting that an interpreter's time is reserved exclusively for you from the moment of booking:
- Free cancellation or reschedule up to 24 hours before the confirmed assignment.
- Within 24 hours of the assignment, a cancellation or no-show incurs a fee of 50% of the booking price.
- Where a consumer's statutory right of withdrawal would otherwise apply to an interpreting booking, the same early-performance rule as §1 above applies: by confirming a booking close to the assignment date, you acknowledge that the right of withdrawal may end once the assignment has been performed.
5. Localization retainer (recurring package)
The continuous localization retainer is billed monthly with no long-term lock-in. To cancel, contact us at support@translationroad.com before your next monthly billing date; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and no partial-month refund is given for a period already in progress.
